New Release: Artemis Sweater

Posted - Mar 18, 2014

By Anne

The final release for the Legendary Knits, volume 2, the Artemis Sweater is now available.  This fitted women's pullover is knit from Wooly Wonka Fibers Freya DK, which is a 100% BFL wool.  The pullover features ribbing at the waist and sleeves, trimmed with a diamond-shaped cable.  The sweater has a V-neckline trimmed with the same ribbing.  It is worked in the round from the hem up to the armholes, and then worked back and forth to shape the body.  The set-in cap sleeves lend a tailored touch to it as well.

I love the Greek legend of Artemis - goddess of the hunt and forest creatures, as well as young girls.  A kick-butt attitude and a whole set of great life skills - what's not to love?

New Pattern Release: The Snow Queen Jacket

Posted - Mar 11, 2014

By Anne

Now available is The Snow Queen Jacket, the next pattern release in the Legendary Knits, volume 2 collection.

A mid-thigh length jacket, knit from the bottom hem up, with hems and front bands trimmed with knit/purl snowflake motifs. The jacket is cast on at the bottom hem and worked back and forth up through the waist shaping to the underarms. The body is then placed on hold and the sleeves are knit from the hem up to the underarms. The sleeves and body are joined and shoulders are worked with raglan shaping. The collar is knit in one with the jacket. Minimal seaming at the underarms finishes the jacket.

Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale focuses on the classic struggle between good and evil, as told through two small children. The boy, Kai, is taken under the protection of the Snow Queen after he is attacked by an evil troll. She takes him to live with her in her palace at the North Pole. Gerda, however, pines for her friend, and sets off to find him at the Snow Queen’s palace. There, she is able to pass several tests and free Kai to return home with her.

It is suitable for any drapey DK-weight yarn (like our Nimue DK), knit on US size 5 needles.  This pattern contains eight women's sizes, from 31" to 51 1/4" finished chest size.
